Sage’s Art Studio

mental wellness and art in conversation

About Me

Hi! My name is Sage Thompson (b. 2005, Midland, TX) , and I am an emerging artist based in Dallas, TX. My work explores identity and mental health. I work across oil paints, sculpture, digital, and other mediums to try to blend reality with mentality. I often incorporate foxes or moons into my work.

I will graduate with a BFA in Studio Art from Southern Methodist University (SMU, 2027), and I hope to complete a Master’s that allows me to combine my passions for mental health, art, and video games.

My work has been exhibited at the Doolin and Jordan Galleries at SMU. Recently, I completed a gallery for SMU’s abroad program in Italy, and was a 2025 Grant Recipient from the Spaht Family Immersion Fund.

My current projects include an exhibition in September 2026 titled SMU Abroad - Art in Italy, where “Collective Memories” was displayed, depicting my emotional experiences and telling a story about one’s mental state. I love making work that focuses on my internal issues by tackling them head-on with research, visualization, and emotion.
